What Works in Treatment: Research Based on Cognitive Models and Their Use in Substance Abuse Treatment

This workshop will present the outcome research on different modalities and how these modalities are utilized by practitioners working with criminal and substance abuse diagnosed clients. The workshop will present a detailed discussion of the three most utilized cognitive models and the research behind these modals. Application of these models in juvenile justice will be emphasized.


Tobacco Cessation: Understanding Cessation and Making It More Effective in Your Practice

This workshop will cover both tobacco addiction and tobacco cessation practices. The practices reviewed will include brief and longer term support. Participant will learn intervention techniques, practice motivational interviewing skills and lean to support clients from the first contact until treatment ends.


Advanced Clinical Supervision

NFATTC has begun to research the impact of its clinical supervision training in treatment settings. This workshop will provide an update on this research and introduce topics key to the implementation of effective clinical supervision. This workshop will build on previous NFATTC supervision training by including corrective interviewing, ethical dilemmas, boundary issues and methods of staff retention.

Note- This is an advanced skills workshop and is limited to participants who have completed the basic NFAAT supervision training.
